MEET OUR FOUNDER:
Kim Young-Joggerst
Hello my name is Kim! I am a mahjong enthusiast and learned the game at age 10 from a great aunt. My preferred style of play is the traditional Chinese/Hong Kong rules. I grew up in Colorado and reside on the west side with my husband, our 2 kids and our 2 fur babies. Aside from mahjong I love plants and own a retail boutique in Lakewood near Green Mountain called The Wandering Maven. I am a breast cancer survivor and a social instigator who loves fostering community when I can.
Mahjong is the perfect game to bond with family, friends and your community. It is a game that requires patience, skill and strategy. Mahjong was created in the mid 1800s during the Qing Dynasty. It was considered a game for the elites in society, but as it became more common the game spread far and wide. Mahjong has become popular in many different cultures and has expanded to at least 40 known versions in the world. By learning the Hong Kong style of play it generally translates easily to adapt to other versions that have additional rules such as American or Jewish style mahjong. Sparrow Mahjong Society is here to spread the love of an age old tradition so come join us!
